
Dr. Marios Soupashis
Marios is a Non-executive Director in charge of oversight of the investment selection process and portfolio management operations. It is his duty to share responsibility with the investment management team for the integrity of the risk/reward tradeoff, dynamic asset allocation for L2ARS, as well as risk adjustments in securities allocations for different client group eligibility.
Marios is a self-motivated PhD-degreed over-achiever, with top industry profile, both on the investment management experience and educational accountabilities. His numerous academic publishing, as well as public service with a number of boards, deserves the highest recognition as a valuable resource of expertise in the field of leveraged finance and asset management.
Marios spent six years (2013-2019) heading the Investment Strategy and Advisory Management unit of Bank of Cyprus, Nicosia, where he was in charge of formulating overall investment direction for the Private Banking, Asset Management, Institutional Wealth Management and Premier Banking divisions.
Prior, Mr. Soupashis worked as Head of Brokerage at CISCO Ltd. (Bank of Cyprus Brokerage Unit) for thirteen years, where heβd grown the local market share to a record of over 20%. At the time of his departure Brokerage division generated more than 2mln Eur in fees per year.
Earlier (1996-1999), Marios handled client portfolios of over 70mln. Eur in factoring debt balances with Bank of Cyprus Factors Ltd. in Nicosia as an account officer.
Marios has done his Ph.D. in Economics at Middlesex University (2009) and earned his MBA in Finance at the University of Baltimore back in 1994.
Marios went to NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering to complete his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Marios holds several professional certifications and licenses:
– Customer portfolio management, Ministry of Finance (Cyprus);
– Supervisor of Dealings in financial instruments sections, Ministry of Finance (Cyprus);
– Derivatives Dealer, Athens Exchange S.A.
Dr. Soupashis acted as a Member of the Managing Committee with BOC Provident Fund as well as used to serve as its Secretary; back in 2014 Bank of Cyprus (the employer) along with 3,840 members had committed in combined defined contributions about 1.5mln. Eur per month.
Marios enjoys hiking and running. He is an invited lecturer at the University of Cyprus, Economics department and Cyprus Institute of Management.
